ハンス・ウルリッヒ・オブリスト（Hans-Ulrich Obrist）談
国際展にとって非常に重要なのは、ただのスペクタクルでも、何かの複製でもなく、本当に有機的な要素を持つということだと思います。なぜなら国際展では多くの場合、消費速度が非常に速いという危険性もあるからです。私たちはもう少し複雑なものを求めたのです。瞬時に消費されることに抵抗するのです。オブジェクトよりはプロセスのようなもの。表象よりはプロセス、一行で完結するよりはプロセス。私たちは一行で完結する危険性を阻止したかったのです。だからこそ《Utopia Station》という場を設けました。
全体構想つまり有機的な要因によって、展覧会が成長するという考えは、確かに《Utopia Station》の場合にも共通するものでした。またそれは、純粋なエンターテインメント、単なるイヴェントに利用されるのを防ぐ方法でもあります。
