In December 2009, 30 year old Mika Iwasaka from Tokyo, Japan, won the opportunity to travel to London for a week of professional development with the British Council's Visual Arts Department as part of The Fifth Curator competition. Applicants submitted an exhibition proposal from the British Council Collection by using the Collection website.
Mika's proposal entitled 'Close to Me' was selected from 161 applicatons for its interesting selection of works and their relationship to the city of London.
