The four artists and collectives who have been shortlisted for the 2015 Turner Prize have been revealed: They are Assemble, Bonnie Camplin, Janice Kerbel, and Nicole Wermers.
A London-based collective that also draws on design and architecture, Assemble create DIY spaces and environments, and collaborations with Liverpool residents. Bonnie Camplin uses drawing, film, performance, music, and writing; she was recognized for her multimedia work The Military Industrial Complex, which critiques preexisting hierarchies and power structures. Janice Kerbel, meanwhile, was honored for DOUG, an operatic piece comprising nine songs for six voices. And Nicole Wermers was shortlisted for Infrastruckur, an installation which combined elements of design and fashion to examine consumerism and lifestyle.
The winner of the prize will receive nearly $40,000, with the other shortlisted artists each receiving around $8,000 each. This year’s runners-up exhibition will be held at Tramway, Glasgow—the first time in history that Scotland’s hosted the Turner Prize.
