◇ Michael Snow Up Close on Vimeo
This rarely-seen documentary on Michael Snow was made by Jim Shedden and Alexa-Frances Shaw in 1994. Originally intended to document the Michael Snow Project, a celebration of Snow's work in all media spearheaded by the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, the documentary serves as an introduction to Snow's career. Features excerpts from Snow's films, recreations of performance art, concert footage, extensive interviews with Snow, and interviews with artists, curators and writers, including Jonas Mekas, Christopher Dewdney, Pierre Theberge, Robert Fulford, Eb Zeidler, and many others.
Available for rental and purchase from the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre, cfmdc.org.
