Since 2009, Britt Salvesen has served as the Department Head and Curator of the Wallis Annenberg Department of Photography, and the Department Head and Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Salvesen previously served as Director and Chief Curator at the Center for Creative Photography, University of Arizona, Tucson (2004-2009). Among the numerous exhibitions she has curated are The Sun and Other Stars: Katy Grannan and Charlie WhiteLee (LACMA, 2012) and Friedlander: American Monuments (Center for Creative Photography, 2008). Presented in conjunction with the Columbia College Chicago Photography Department.

The 1975 exhibition, New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape, signaled the emergence of a new approach to landscape photography emulated by generations of photographers. A new version of this seminal exhibition is currently touring eight international venues. This discussion focuses on the impact of both exhibitions and the role of landscape photography today.
