This is Axel Dörner - Axel Dörner & Diego Chamy - performance at alberto ukebana, Berlin - YouTube

"Speak Aloud" is the name of a computer program that is able to read a given text. The performance consists in having a well known musician of the so-called improvised music scene playing his music while the computer speaks about him. The musician is used as an object of representation (representing himself) and exposed as a kind of fetish. By the way the text is organized, the performance ends up dealing with different problems concerning the new music scene like the relative fame of the musicians, the lack of popularity that this kind of music has and its questionable relevance for the general audience in opposition to what this music represents for a small group of devotees (mostly audiophiles and musicians which play the same kind of music). It also questions the efficiency of these kinds of musics, taking in consideration the poor effects that it has in the world.

The first performance was done with the English tuba player Robin Hayward, and the second one with the German trumpet player Axel Dörner.

"Speak Aloud" with Axel Dörner was performed at "alberto ukebana", Berlin, on July 18, 2008
