“Sunbather Series” was photographed and printed from l976 to l982. They started with photographs made on public beaches from Chicago to Los Angeles. During the ‘80’s the photographs included a larger landscape, made throughout the west during the many workshops taught on the process.
They are hand colored dye transfer prints, originating from a single black and white 35mm negative. I used the magenta, yellow and cyan dyes to mix colors and apply them to one sheet of matrix film. Each print is unique and all are 16 x 20.

◇ Early Work – Kenda North Photography
Hand-colored dye transfer prints dating 1975-76. Each print is unique and very stable. A black and white negative was exposed on to a single sheet of Kodak Matrix film; the color was applied by mixtures of magenta, yellow and cyan dyes. The finished matrix was rolled into contact with Kodak dye transfer paper, within a few minutes the dyes transferred from the film to the paper. Print sizes vary between 8 x 10 and 11 x 14 inches.
