The Echo – Spreading of Light –
An artist-led initiative that embraces a vision of autonomy, THE ECHO creates exhibitions through peer nominations and evaluations. Following a nomadic relocation from Yokohama to Berlin, the third ECHO is held in Cologne and features 12 Japanese artists living in Germany. Themed around ideas of rebirth from the aftermath of Japan’s triple catastrophe of 2011, the exhibition seeks out a collective identity that is reviewed and renewed by self-reflection distant from homeland, yet undeniably resonant with the minds of its participants.
