◇ WR0188 皆既日食体験北フランス旅行記 - 『ファンタスティック・トラベル』
ところで、このあたりの街はどこも皆既日食帯の中心に近いこともあって、皆既日食をみんなで楽しもうと催しがいろいろあるようです。ポスターや看板が至る所にあり、本屋さんでは天文コーナーを設け、また、地図で有名なミシュランからは日食帯を図面に加えた特製の地図が発売され（残念ながら売り切れで手に入りませんでした）、街角のブティックには特製シャツがあり、 日食特別メニューを用意したレストランやカフェもあちこちにありました。新聞でも毎日、日食の記事があり、前日１０日には特集が組まれ、１９１２年４月の日食の記事のコピーや、来世紀の日食の予定まで載っています。

ヨーロッパで日蝕があったのは、１９１１年ではなく１９１２年です。
日蝕につけられた名前が「ザ・タイタニック・イクリプス」ってことは、
それだけ大規模なものだったってことでしょうか。
